Privacy policy What we keep and how we protect it

Privacy policy

GreenBro is an independent tool that helps you understand your USCIS case. We are not affiliated with USCIS or the U.S. government. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we receive, what we use it for, who we share it with and how long we keep it.

Last updated: October 5, 2026 Takes effect: October 19, 2026

In short

  • We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. We use no third-party analytics or trackers.
  • You don't need an account to use the chat. If you create one, we only ask for your email.
  • We automatically remove personal details you type in the chat (name, address, A-number and others) before storing them or sending them to our AI provider.
  • We keep chat conversations for 120 days. After that we delete their content and keep only anonymous counts.
  • You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

1. What information we receive

When you use the chat

  • The messages you write, after personal details are removed (see section 2), and the assistant's replies.
  • An anonymous conversation ID, kept in a cookie, so the assistant remembers what you talked about.
  • Your IP address and browser type, to protect the service from abuse (for example, message limits per connection) and to measure use.

When you look up a receipt number (in the chat or in "Track my case")

  • We check that receipt's status in USCIS's official system.
  • We store the status and its history to keep it up to date and to calculate statistics.
  • On GreenBro's public pages receipt numbers never appear in full: only their first characters, and only when many cases share them.

When you create an account and save cases ("Track my case")

  • Your email address, to send you the sign-in link and alerts about your case.
  • The receipt numbers you save, the category you choose and the nickname you give a case, if any.
  • The date you signed up, and the IP address and browser you sign in from.
  • A record of the alerts we send you and whether you chose to stop them.

When you visit the site

  • Our server logs each visit (IP address, browser and page), like any website. We use these logs for security and to count total visits.

The PDF packet tool

  • Your files are processed only on your device and are never uploaded to our server. All we receive is a notice that a packet was built, to count how many are made; it contains nothing from your documents.

What we don't ask for

  • We don't ask for your name, address, A-number, Social Security number or any document. Please don't type them in the chat.

2. Automatic removal of personal details in the chat

Before we store a message or send it to our AI provider, we automatically remove:

  • names (for example, the header of a pasted letter or the name fields of a myUSCIS file);
  • postal addresses (we keep only the city and state);
  • A-number, Social Security number, USCIS online account number, passport, I-94 and driver's license numbers;
  • date of birth, phone numbers and email addresses.

We keep what the assistant needs to help you: the receipt number, the form, the dates and status of your case, and the city or office.

This removal catches the most common forms but cannot guarantee it finds everything, especially a name written inside a sentence. That is why we ask you not to share personal details.

3. How we use information

  • To answer your questions and show you your case's status and history.
  • To email you when your case changes, if you asked us to.
  • To calculate statistics about the cases we follow, such as processing times, approvals and statuses. They are always published in aggregate, without identifying anyone.
  • To improve the assistant and the service.
  • To protect the service from abuse.

4. Who we share information with

We don't sell or rent your information. We only share it with the providers we need to run the service:

ProviderPurposeWhat it receives
